CANCELED
As announced in the email sent to everyone on the PHNA mailing list on September 15, the Office of Design determined that it was not in the best interest of the City or Poncey-Highland to continue with the historic district nomination process related to the Notice of Intent to Nominate dated August 29 due to an administrative issue with the petition. Therefore, the September 25 Urban Design Commission hearing on the eligibility of this nomination will not happen, though it may still appear on the agenda since the agenda is created and published two weeks ahead of the meeting.
Neighborhood community meetings will continue as scheduled so that neighbors can become informed about what a potential district might mean for our neighborhood whether we embark on another official city process or not. The idea is to use the city's Historic Preservation Ordinance to put in place design and development management regulations for our neighborhood. This would be an entirely new approach for the city--not a traditional historic district at all.
